Update On My Leaking Water Butt

A nice man has just been and collected my water butt and he seems to think he can repair it. So, that's good. I advertised it on our local Freegle website and it's now gone to a good home. :-)

I did a terrible thing over a leaking water butt, Tilly

Mr Next Door's brother was selling a huge metal butt...a monster of a butt. Mr G bought it to stand by our barns. When he filled it there were leaks everywhere....lots of little spouting leaks which could be easily sorted.
By coincidence MrG was admitted to hospital that week and when Mr Next Door asked where he was I told him that the shock of all the leaks from the butt he'd bought from the brother had caused him to collapse and I'd had to send for an ambulance....

I did confess to the fib......a bit later on..... ;-)

Patching it might have worked, Nails, but it would need a big patch.

Water butts can be mended if they are plastic. Cut a plastic milk bottle into strips and weld the strips on over the leak using a heat gun. There is a video on YouTube. It worked with our ginormous 2 metre high ex orange juice butt and the leak was in the base, so quite some head.
