I was going to say it was a bit OTT, Checked the name before posting and apparently it's a true story. Shows what I know, lol.
The actress in the title role doesn't strike me as attractive enough to cause that much discombobulation amongst the menfolk. Subjective, I suppose.
Anyone watch it?

It is quite an accurate portrayal of Mary Ann Cotton and she wasn't a great beauty by modern standards. She was able to seduce many men in her time but this was a time when available women were in short supply. She was very good, however, at killing people who stood in her way.

I haven't watched it but I believe that it is 'supposed' to be based on a true story. Mary Ann Cotton killed her step-son and a few husbands.

Not seen it yet but, personally, i find Joanne Froggatt quite attractive. Each to his/her own, i suppose, Spice.
If you Google the true story, Mary Anne Cotton was no 'looker'.
Watched it first time...true story and good viewing
JF scrubs up quite nicely for award ceremonies etc - I wouldnt shove her out of bed.
I haven’t watched it, but just looked Joanne up. She is perfectly nice looking. Perhaps a bit too good-looking for the real Mary Ann.
It’s strange what men go funny over.

This is a repeat, isn't it? I saw it the first time round. Excellent.
When was it on ?
Question Author
The first half of the repeat was on ITV@9;OO last night. Probably next |Tuesday for the second half.
Expect it's on ITV Hub, too.
Her police mugshot is printed and she ain't no beauty.
Can't find this on ITV hub..
Her four husbands must have seen something they liked in her. She was not ugly by any means.
This was fairly local to me. As a child I can still remember children singing skipping rhymes, 80 years after the case.

Mary Ann Cotton,
She's dead and she's rotten,
She lies in her bed with her eyes wide oppen (open).

Sing, sing, What shall I sing?
Mary Ann Cotton is tied up with string.
Where, where?
Up in the air,
Selling black puddings a penny a pair.
