I prefer a large Gaviscon. But there are other indigestion tablets in the pharmacies. Else, see the doc.
A (wee) drink of milk sometimes helps.

I thought about milk, didn’t know if it’d go one way or the other
Well if the milk goes the wrong way you can enjoy drinking it all over again.
Go easy on the milk as it stimulates the production of MORE acid.
Chewing gum can help by increasing saliva production and washing the acid away.
Best to take a Gaviscon for now.
I've suffered badly with reflux for years. Nexium sorted it for me. I take one every two or three days and I'm fine.
Here's a look at eight home remedies that can provide quick relief for indigestion.
Peppermint tea. Peppermint is more than a breath freshener. ...
Chamomile tea. Chamomile tea is known to help induce sleep and calm anxiety. ...
Apple cider vinegar. ...
Ginger. ...
Fennel seed. ...
Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) ...
Lemon water. ...
Licorice root.
Oh go on be brave, * pop a gaviscon*.
Is indigestion the same as acid reflux, though?
Acid reflux........ like heartburn jack ,
I know you said 'kitchen remedies' but I would suggest a visit to the doctor and ask if they would consider prescribing Omeprazole if appropriate.
I woke up in ITU and asked the nurse if I were allowed a Gaviscon from my bedside locker as I was on other meds. He came back with two omeprazole which I have taken for about 8 years. Never had acid reflux since.
Gaviston liquid is good, but like retrocop mentioned, a ppi like omeprazole, does a better job. Bicarbonate of soda works well for some people, I have been told.
.
I expected everyone to say bicarbonate of soda in a little warm water as thought that was the most famous home remedy for indigestion and heartburn.
For me when I suffered it, it was a spoonful of malt vinegar and that got rid....don't know if it would work for everyone though.
Apple Cider Vinagar. But it has to be with the "mother" . You buy it in health shops. Take a bit with water and honey a few times a day for a while.
I was prescribed Nexium for a long while , then the doc started giving me Omeprazole, when I said I did not think it worked as well as Nexium I was told it was really expensive and I had to make do with Omeprazole . So now I also have a bottle of Peptac to use if necessary. But when all else fails I have a couple of spoonfuls of porridge which seems to take the edge of the heartburn :)
Oh sorry should have said dry porridge :)
I suffered from bad acid reflux and it was keeping me awake at night. Gaviscon doesnt do anything for me so I went to see the doc. She prescribed Lansoprazole and I have not had a bout of it since. Brilliant drug.
