It a shame for the employees that yet another Ford plant is likely to close. I`m a Ford fan but over recent years I find many of their cars quite ugly, overpriced for even a reasonable spec and full of tech not often wanted. They seem to have lagged behind on electric technology also. When they took part in motorsport directly they seemed to have better looking cars and technology. Do you agree.

My husband has the new Kuga and we love it - no problems at all and would deffo get another one
Yes, i agree. Fords are not attractive, only the boy racer focus range takes my eye and even then they aren't the best. I think people mostly buy second hand fords because they are cheap to run. IE, always spare parts floating about.
Never been a fan of Ford's, particularly the dashboard and switchgear.

However our 2nd car is a 7 year old Fiesta and I have never had a moment's problems with it.
Before the apostrophe police arrest me, I blame autocorrect.
If you think about it, the mondeo was also a popular car, and many were sold as company cars, the model from 2001 sold well, but the new one, ( I'm not sure when that came out) was ugly, more like a boat, than a car, and very few on the road compared to the 2001 model, so a big loss there I would think.
Remember the Scorpio.
I had a Mk1 Focus for 16 years. Never had any major problems with it. I use to maintain it well. Same clutch, same exhaust since buying it with 1000 miles on the clock. The tin worm got it in the end. More expensive to repair than what it was worth.
I worked constructing the plant in the 80s
1700 jobs is a big hit for one employer, and S Wales
I assume you meant 100,000 ?
Fords are reliable cars, they are pretty solid, you can get spare parts more easily than any other car brand and they are good runners.. But i do agree with the OP. They are becoming ugly, and not up to date with other brands, for example, Seat.

Seat are taking the market by storm in my personal opinion. The new Leon with all the gadgets is orgasmic.
No Spath 1000 miles. It had 160, 000 on the clock. When I sold it on for spares. The wheels were worth more than the car.
Ah sorry.. I read wrong! Since buying WITH 1000 already on clock. Sorry
" Focus " ................. I suppose this answer will be removed
It's SEAT....not Seat (bit like BMW...it's a set of initial letters).
Eh, people know what i mean, especially with the 'Leon' :)
Although a bit of topic, I always thought it strange to name a car after Trotsky.
Hymie:
If Gingejbee is going to get fussy over capital letters, I feel entitled to point out that o and ó aren't the same.

So the SEAT León isn't named after Leon Trotsky but after the beautiful city of León:

I wonder which British towns or cities Ford could name their cars after? The Ford Scunthorpe, perhaps?
;-)
I find many of their cars quite ugly,

Some I do.
This one I don't.

Not much room in the back, Tony.
