Doctor now thinks it's gout! Scan has shown no DVT thank goodness.
Legs and feet still very swollen. One big toe really swollen and inflamed.
Just as well we cancelled our holiday we were due to go on tomorrow. He is in so much pain. I hope the new meds kick in soon.

Oh dear. My husband has suffered with that. Absolutely terrible. But, the meds really are amazing. I guess your man is on Naproxen and Allopurinol?
That's really bad luck, Caran. Although it's been the subject of jokes for centuries, I've heard that gout an awful thing to suffer from - I hope modern meds can sort it out pronto.

Yes that is what he is on Cloverjo.
Himself gets gout, the medicine works really quickly.
Poor chap, very sore - hope he gets respite soon.
I hope Mr Caran feels better quickly.
Just remembered, cranberry juice is supposed to help.

Thanks for that Sher. I'll get him some tomorrow.
Thanks for all good wishes folks.
Those meds and the cranberry juice do indeed work Caren, I know from personal experience. They work pretty quickly too!
Glad you know what it is, my husband has gout. Allopurinol is what he takes, hope your OH feels better soon.
Sympathies, gout is horrible - not least for the fact that everyone thinks its amusing to tell you about your 'rich living' and drinking too much port. I'm tee-total, so not often finding humour in that hoary old wives' tale.

For those who don't suffer - imagine dropping a full double wardrobe on your big toe - that's what it feels like.
I thought cranberry juice was good for cystitis?
Cherries are supposed to help with gout.
Anyway, now he’s on the meds he’ll be fine.
Pain is different for different people, andy
My nurse friend said that celery salts helps
You can get it in your knees as well. My husband was confined to his armchair for over a week as he couldn’t bear the pain of just standing up.
There is a thing called pseudo gout too, which is just as painful.

You never hear of women having gout. Why is that?
