I've just caught this by chance on BBC 4... it was mostly about 'News of the world' album back in '77 (I was five at the time) but even having backtracked... and have loads of Queen documentaries etc... some footage I'd never seen before... def worth a look for any Queen fans.... amazing band.

My brother-in-law sobbed when he died :-(
I sobbed as well and sent a single red rose to his funeral :o(((
I am not ashamed to admit that the day he died was among the worst days of my life. Having been a fan since '73, it really was like losing a friend. However, whereas friends leave only memories as legacies, we do have the music and many a day will find me in a 'Queen' mood where i play all the CDs, one after another as i go about my daily business.
Gosh, I was born in '73. I've always liked them. Freddie was a great front man.

When my eldest Bro told me that Freddie had passed away I was in disbelief even though most knew it was coming, it wasn't until I put the radio on and all the dedications were coming in that it sunk in and and welled up big time.

As for Bohemian Rhapsody I went to see it at the Cinema with my Youngest Bro... a Queen fan obviously influenced by myself... but made a promise I'd wait until he came back from America before going to see it. Only a week and half after its release though but well worth the wait.
Do you know, and i don't mean any offence here, i had both you two (ummmm and Arky), down as being older than you have recently revealed - i was 18 when i first heard Freddie's vocal chords in action. If i remember rightly, Arky, there was lots of newspaper speculation that Freddie had Aids - something which we fans sincerely hoped wasn't true. Then he admitted it and he died a day later.
As for influencing people; obviously i have played my Queen music throughout the upbringing of my 4 children who, apart from my youngest, used to hate it. They, of course, preferred the poetic lyrics of songs such as Ride On Time, etc, etc :-) However, all 4 now watch anything and everything connected to Queen. I do believe they've all grown up - musically at least :-)

No offence taken, it must mean one of us at least is older and wiser than our years suggest.

Ride on time is a true classic and will last the test of time ;-)

Funny enough though Ken I recently did a big clear out and came across scrap-books I made of Queen and still have some newspaper reports before he announced he had aids.
Yeah, Arky. I do remember The Sun (who else?!) in particular hounded him for a while - Sun photographers popping up every like characters from a 'Whack-a-mole' fairground stall.
Just had a look to see what the Beeb have replaced Cardinal with - Inspector Montalbano:-// Not my cup of tea so, after the football, i guess i'll be watching BoRap for the fourth time :-)

Good call, I don't know either of those shows though. I'm waiting 'til I buy the DVD of Bo Rhap before watching it again as it'll have all the 'Extras' parts of it.
