We were going to Luxembourg next Tuesday. But OH has very swollen legs and feet. He had a blood test yesterday, had a phone call from Doctor at the lab last night, he says he has cellulitis and possibly DVT. He has a scan booked for tomorrow. His GP phoned today and suggested we cancel the holiday as all the driving would not be good for him and if it is DVT it could be too dangerous.
Cancelled booked holiday at a park resort in Luxembourg, no refund available. We had a hotel booked for one night going and one coming home. One didn't charge us the other did.
The good bit was the channel crossing, they extended the date to use the booking to February next year so we can rebook later in the year if we want to.

That is a shame, health first always x
We had to cancel a holiday to Malta about 6 years ago when I was diagnosed with Cancer. No refund from the holiday insurance and Easy Jet would only refund our Airport Taxes. We changed our Travel Insurance company and will never fly Easy jet again.

Sorry to read that Caran but as Mamya says health is the priority everytime.

The person I spoke to at holiday company asked if we had travel insurance. We hadn't as the cheapest he could find was £1600 due to his two cancer episodes.
She told me about a company called Fit to Travel. Her father had prostate cancer twice yet managed to get insurance with them for £120. I will bear that in mind next time we go away. This might be helpful to other ABers too.
If you paid by credit card you might get some reimbursement for having not used the bookings; providing the payment isnt cleared.
Caran - I think personally you need to give you and yourself a bit of a rest and be it home. Give yourselves a break.

The hotel that is charging us is only now taking the payment from the card.
I asked the holiday company if someone else could take our place in the chalet. Was told it's not transferable so it's a win win situation for the company.
forget about money and worry about health

I Agree jennyjoan, his health comes first. We are in no rush to go anywhere soon.
Sorry to hear this, hope your OH can get it all sorted. Good that the channel crossing can be deferred.

Us blokes eh!!! who'd have us. Typical such a shame for you Caran having to pay for it and not being able to go now though, however all the best to you and your OH, hope he feels better soon.
Sorry to read of your misfortune, my best wishes to you & Mr Caran.

Thank you all for good wishes.
The fact holiday payments are not refunded does not matter. It was paid in the past and that is gone.
Main thing is get him sorted as soon as possible.
Three years ago my husband two flights with Easyjet to Bilbao,Spain booked to visit family,We had to cancel as he hurt his back and was in agony,so the first was cancelled and hoped he would be ok to make the second one which was towards the end of the year...but that too had to be also cancelled. We had been using Easyjet many times, especially to Bilbao as it is so handy to be able fly from Manchester direct, whereas before,it meant going to London first. So when we had to cancel,I rang Easyjet, explained, got doctor's letter to probe that this was a new medical problem. We got full refund in the form of vouchers, which was fine for us ,being frequent flyers with them.Did not really expect to receive anything but worth a try. Another time,he was going and the plane could not leave Manchester due to a mechanical fault..was given hotel, evening meal plus breakfast. We then got 200Euros refund paid into our bank...not bad for a low cost airline..so have no complaints with them
