A Dongle ?

We are going to Japan for 3 weeks in November and staying with SIL some of the time. One of the things that I am not too happy with is the fact she doesn't have wifi ( I know, I could hardly believe it myself), so I am looking for an alternative way to be able to go on-line, fast enough to watch films ( hopefully) but at least to be able to read the paper, AB, on-line banking and emails. Any ideas please ?

I thought Japan was all high tech these days. Maybe she is of the wrong generation.

If problems arise with SiL let your man sort her out - unless he's scared of her.

I usually use My3 Dongle it is quite consistent, but I haven't travelled to Japan though so can't say about the connection or speed.

Thanks. Plenty info there zac. Yes wolf63, she is a generation or two too early. Mr.Sam will sort out any problems, but I will be a very good girl, we don't often see her, maybe just a few weeks a year, so can manage that, but can still have a moan here I hope !

Wolf63. I agree. Not all peeps have wi fi. Canot understand the jargon. The young ones think everybody knows. Diff world now. Over 30 an ur past it. God i could teach these young ones a thing or two. Cant say nothin these days.

If you're phone's not locked to a particular network you could buy a SIM to be used with a local service:

That would enable you to check on the news, etc but you'd not get enough data (without spending a fortune) to watch movies. Remember that you can use you phone as a hotspot to provide a wifi signal to other devices, so you could put a Japanese SIM in your phone but then view the internet on your iPad (or similar).

jacpinetree17 I'm 56 and get by with using the laptop but there are so many things that confuse me. I still don't understand what the point of Twitter is.
