If the nation were to become 100% non-meat eating where would the meat for dog and cat food come from?

What do you think happens to dairy cows when they are old Spath?
And old chickens who no longer lay?
Are they all buried in a field somewhere?
Well most dairy cows are moved to slaughter at 6 years so at just over a quarter of their life span, they are slaughtered. Seems young to me.

If anyone is eating 15 year old cow they have teeth made of porcelain
anyhow.. "if the nation were to become 100% non-meat eating where would the meat for dog and cat food come from?"
//Meat for pet food is all by-products of human consumption meat//

No! Wrong!
How so?
Disregarding vegans....we also use cows for leather.
Lot's of feral pigs, unwanted horses, kangaroos etc find their way into the "dog/cat food" chain down 'ere.

Granted we do eat our "national emblems" ( roos and emus, yum) but not as often as our pets do ;-)
That’s grim reading.
I used to feed my cats cheap cat food because I was skint, and struggled to feed myself. Horrible to think what they could have been eating.
No doubt many pet food manufacturers are a tad more ethical as to what they incorporate into the food the create, but, it's not all created from the left overs of what humans devour.
They've been using horse meat for years in pet food. When it says ( meaty chunks) on the tin/packet, it means (meat) any kind of meat. Not so long ago that TESCO was feeding it to us. :)
I have no problem eating horse i don't see why people do.
Yep, I don't either, look back to 1930 right up to 1950 that was what the butcher was selling, a folk were lining to get their hands on it.
People are trapped in their thoughts. I saw a picture "where do you draw the line" between meat and pets. The answer, (for me is) you don't. Animals are animals food is food.

I wouldn't choose to eat dog (especially in the uk) but if i was in asia and it was part of the street food, why not try it?
