21. Ducks and drakes used to bust the dam.
As the previous query by me has got to 15 answers I thought it better to start again rather than let it drift on getting longer.
The answer has to contain a letter(s) that is(are) silent. Of all the answers given only ricochet and bombings really fit that description. I don't think ricochet is right as it doesn't fit the ducks and drakes and stones bouncing off the water. BOMBINGS fits well with ducks and drakes and bust the dam.
Unless a better idea comes up I will go with BOMBINGS and it is a very simple answer!!!!!

There really wasn't a need for a new thread.

Good luck with the quiz.
Could it just be

Bouncing Bombs ?
divebombs?
It's one word - 8 letters.
Ah ok. Thanks Naomi
I'm sticking with Ricochet.
In France, the game of 'ducks and drakes' is known as 'ricochet'.
But why would France be relevant?
Only that it might strengthen the argument that skimmed stones (and bouncing bombs) ricochet rather than bounce. It is just semantics though and you have to just take your pick.
'Yes', she said, scratching her head in confusion.
I think there's been a lot of head scratching over this question. :o)
Ducks and Drakes is a game --- skimming stones across the water.
