Why are song lyrics censored on the radio but the news isn't?

is this a joke? what do you mean the news isn't censored? they don't swear on the news, right? 'obscene' song lyrics are deleted from radio play, whereas they just don't put obscene material in news broadcasts in the first place. i don't get your point.
Song lyrics can be seen as a deliberate attempt to shock or offend listeners who are not within the composers' audience demographic. The news however is of public interest, and any 'offensive' material is viewed in the conext of delivery of the issue in a balanced and objective manner. That's why one gets censored, and the other doesn't.
besides the news is censored!
