All properties throughout Britain ?
No, Norfolk. I thought that this week's wisdom was to get rid of domestic gas on the alter of climate change?
Not had one.
Gas board?? Are you 60 years behind the rest of the UK?

Cadent, gas network on letterhead. Pamplet says digging up driveways, patio & garden to follow pipe line. No mention of make good or compo exes
These utility works are usually very local....your street only probably, or maybe they'll move on to the next street eventually. Normally they should leave things as they found them...in fact, some local work by contractors for our electricity supplier (lots of pavement digging and deep holes) resulted in pavements that were a great improvement.
I remember years ago when one or more of the utilities were changing pipes cables / drains etc on our road .

They/ the council , offered the residents a great deal on having a drop kerb if we wanted .

It cost less than 50 quid
