Yes, yes, yes. But what have they *really* done for us!

Oooh, I love Jethro Tull.
Coming from Dorset iv'e never been into Cornish comedians Zacs
HereIam...same the other way round.

My kids are in their 20s and people accuse them of having no respect just because of their age. They lump people together which is wrong, I taught my kids respect, and they wouldn't dare question authority. Or my authority, and I'm a bit of a softy!
Zacs-Master

/// So Scots are undesirables, eh. ///

They were called Caledonians back then, made up of various tribes the Picts being one, since you are always bragging how educated you are, I would have though you would have known that.
i think it's healthy to question authority.
No it's not, Spath, you do as you're told by police /parents/teachers/doctors etc etc.
You might do, i don't.

That's not saying i'll deliberately do the opposite from what i'm told, but if a police man told me to do something i didn't want to do, then why on earth should I? They aint saints ya know. Also, doctors can be wrong.

It's good to question things. It helps understand them.Better than mindlessly following random orders.
I have never even once bragged how educated I am, AOG. Cos I isn't.

Talking of Picts....I think the Pink Floyd track 'several small furry animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with a Pict' is my all time favourite song title

Ryzen - nice one ;-)
The whistling of birds, the sharp cry of nature. A subtle snare.... Goblin voices.

Tut tut tut tut thud thud thud pitter patter pitter patter. Faster, faster,

Noises you would hear from The Lost Boys

I am afraid they diiiiiid ! (that is meant to be 'did' in a singy songy teasing voice)

ubi solitudinem faciunt, pacem appellant.

Calgacus from oop t north quoted by Tacitus (AD 100 kinda)
you make a desert and call it peace....

sozza - ancient forrin - I am a very very bad man
my quote is better - fewer repeated syllables
People had more time for each other. Stress wasn’t so endemic. You still had a local pub and post office. Bankers were respected. Social coherence was more -relevant prevalent. Money wasn’t so much the be all and end-all. That said wages were low, and money was tight.
We also had loads of high street shops david and bank and building societies weren't closing left, right and centre.
//Talking of Picts//

Aye some men are chosen, real men are Pict
PP. I hope you weren’t in charge of sums...

“£32 per month wages...£7 a week rent”. Giving you about £4 a month to live on! Frugal you might have been, maybe a non-smoker and a non-drinker, but a quid a week?

Employers wouldn't have asked or expected people to work away from home then without paying Lodgings.
We used to get it working locally.
" We never had it so Good "
Many things are better, many worse. Rather be then with today's inventions, discoveries, knowledge. And a smattering of social improvements; leaving the nonsense out.
