I keep my dracenas in good light, but NOT direct sunlight...one sits about 4 feet back from a West window, the other on a sheltered east kitchen window sill. Both are allowed to dry out between watering and are never kept wet.
I find they will drop lower leaves periodically as they grow.
Your plant needs a good soaking to recover from your absence, but don't let it sit in the water. Just allow the surface to dry out begore watering again.
