Bear with me, Ive imbibed a few sherberts here....
Have spent the day decorating for a friend and have to (unexpectantly) return tomorrow.
But got home this evening and opened my kitchen tilt and turn window (I live in a high rise) and its come of its runners and is now hanging precariously by only one hinge. Its not safe to be left as it overhangs a street.
Just rang the council and was told that someone would be out tonight or if not tomorrow (when I cant be at home)
I told the council that It needs to be seen to as an emergency because its a danger to the public below . The young slip of a girl on the other end of the line told me to just be in and put the phone down...
Ive a long time ago gave up fuming at beaurocracy but this is taking the P****.
Just concerned about someone below getting hurt, no skin off my nose if my windows knackered, I live 3 stories up, not as though anyone is going to break in!
Just peed of at trying to report a danger to the council only to have the phone put down on me by some young girl who...in all fairness...probably doestnt want to be there anyway!

Have they fixed your window?

Hello Mamy, yes thanks, its secured for now but got come back sometime next week with new fittings...
Glad they got it secured, I am lethal with tilt and turn windows - thankfully am on the ground floor.
Councils fault. You've completed your responsibilities, it's theirs now. Simple.

I'd personally (if that worried) just rip it off and keep hold of it, getting it inside. If you can't rip it off, it's not that much of a threat.
It would have been, falling on someone from a height - but is sorted for now at least.
