I purchased some sweet pea seeds, canes and twine ... I'm hoping if the good weather continues tomorrow, to turn over a border and mix in some compost, erect some cane wigwams and plant some of the sweet pea seeds! What if anything are you up to our in the garden?

Goodnight all.
Not so far but I've only been gardening a short time.

Got a few bare root plants to soak overnight, tonight. Then a cherry tree to plant tomorrow. Plus some blueberry bushes, a greatberry bush, and some pineberry plants to go in. Got overenthusiastic flicking through the catalogue. Busy few days ahead.
Well Togo, I discussed here about pruning and the opinion seemed to be waiting to avoid frost. Sure there are shoots cut off but there was no way they were staying in the state they were.
Planted up a couple of containers with lovely yellow and purple pansies. Also put a large bucket over my rhubarb which is just starting to grow to force it on a bit. Rhubarb crumble in a couple of weeks I hope.
I always prune up the Roses at the back end of Autumn Geezer. It has always been pretty successful so far. Not yet in bud mind, just new growth. I think that the frost mainly damages buds for flowers and blossom for fruit.
Blooms now are:
1.red Japonica at west window followed by quince apples to pickle.
2.cerise Camellia (20ft) south window
3.east double Forsythia 20ft
4. north window sill & bathroom - orchids: violet, green, purple, tiger yellow, pink, blue & white. All fed pottasium via steeped banana skins.

Every windowsill is full of peppers and tomatoes, frames for raised beds built will be put in place today and spuds going in under plastic. Still waiting for bean poles to be delivered so I will start runners and climbing French beans next week along with peas and sweet peas, squashes and cucumbers I have ordered as grafted plants and they won't arrive until may. Then it will be time to sow kales and other brassicas. Never ending. Especially as I now share a garden as well as using my balcony ,
Glad to see you are keeping busy Rowan. Got to get my tomatoes, cucumber, courgettes, broad beans, peas, onions, radish, beetroot etc. etc. sorted in the next 3 weeks. Tip Rowan. If you are growing tomatoes outside try "First in the Field" and "Red Alert" varieties. Done very well for me in the past.
Sweet peas hardening off as are runners, tomatoes and cucumbers just out of propagator, shallots and potatoes planted. Sweet corn,French beans seeds on windowcills to germinate (only done yesterday),greenhouse still full of fuchsias and geraniums ,we’ve both been carried away by a few nice days!
the only veg I grow are runner beans coz I prefer them no more than 6" long, sweeter & not stringy.
Managed to cut the lawn, tidy the patio of empty pots, sticks and plastic trays so I could sweep it. It all looks so much better.
I came across some left over peas from last year (heaven knows why I kept just a dozen). The packet said plant by 2018. I have popped them outside in a spare patch and will wait and see!
