I do agree that by secondary school age, there needs to be a lot more choices than there are.
Well I'm going to put my teacher head on Spath because you are still young enough to learn and it's an error I've seen you do more than once:-
peruse means to read, the word you want is pursue - this is not spelling police, this is education.
Can’t say I struggled with the lack of choice, I took 10 GCSEs and passed them all
Thank you prudie it may land. I used to spell 'Surely' as 'surly' until douglass mentioned something.
I have 4 GCSEs english maths and two science.
So did I, rockrose and 3 A Levels, but none of them in any subjects that I have ever used since. Some vocational choices would have been very useful.
We took vocational at college, car maintenance, caring community, filmmaking and relationships
"Some vocational choices would have been very useful."

That is what i wanted at school.
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Maths
English language
English lit
History
Geography
Home ec
French
Yes, that may well have been a better choice for me personally. Everyone at my school was just assumed to be doing A Levels and university.
I did the same, rr, but instead of Home Ec and Geography, did Business and Technology and Latin.
we have a litany ( yes litany !) of subjects
were these all gained by home schooling
or just that the educated amongst felt forced to tell us what they got ?

the results of english home schooling tends to be bad - they dont pass nuffin...
and yes I think the hidden agenda is islamic home schooling....
Long article on Shameem ( again ) to day in the Times and an emphasis on - "at skool I didnt learn narfin'"
and then "I believed everyfing I saw on the internet"

and honestly I think: how CAN these kids be so gormless?
oh listen PP its not just the kids who are gormless. I saw one of those 'help this poor man get out of hospital in Thailand" things on FB and when I inquired of the lady....who i don't know in real life but who seems sensible in what she posts....she said I don't know him but what could anybody gain by posting this? and when I said moolah she was shocked...and she's in her 40's and runs a business.
