Any pointers or suggestion for these two would be much appreciated please:

13a: Two girls meet a novel and musical character (7)
I have ??L?E?N (quite confident with the E and N but the L might not be correct)

11d: Doc surprisingly quit - contravened code one to disappear, only to turn up again after a long time (8)
I have R???N?N?
REVENANT comes to mind but I'm not sure why.

Thanks very much.

Ah, I didn't spot that wordplay. Thanks. That would mean 13a becomes V?L?E?N (unless the L is wrong). VILLEIN perhaps? But I can't see how to get that from the clue.

Thanks everyone, especially Mamyalynne. I will now go and stand in the corner and hang my head in shame. I've read Les Miserables several times and seen the musical once. I should have got that. Oh dear!!
