Had a large back molar extracted in hospital yesterday, after fainted and threw up when the dentist tried to do it.

Sedation was fantastic - remember then putting the canula in, then woke up in recovery room with no memory of what had happened.

Thought it was too good to last!

After a day feeling pleasantly woozy and taking painkillers a couple of times, it is clear everything has worn off now!

Mouth swollen like it is full of ball-bearings, too sore to touch, feels like someone is attacking the cavity with a jackhammer, pain is total!

Not much sleep tonight I fear …

So glad you're being looked after. Hope this is the start (if delayed) of your recovery.
Andy, whoever you saw at hospital on Monday appears to be useless at their job . Thank goodness you have now received the correct treatment. So your pain had nothing to do with ( pain threshold ).severe pain is just that , severe ,.
Darn....bumped down the queue again....... :-(
I can do nice stitching, Andy......

Glad you're on the mend.......x
Hopefully it should start feeling better very quickly now xx
Oooo just found this post.

Andy, you have my deepest sympathy and im actually wincing at the thought of it all.

I'll happily admit to being one of the biggest wimps out there but dentists and toothache will render me into a gibbering wreak each and every time.

Good luck x
yow, sounds like you've had some sub-optimal care there. I would have thought an X-ray really should have picked up any infection before you had the tooth pulled.

Doctor Lovely did show me the x-ray, and showed where the infection was, so why they didn't sort it when I had the extraction, I have no idea, but it seems a bit bonkers to stich up an infected cavity, which appears to be what they did.

Thanks again ladies for your kindness - I am unlike the majority of my gender in that, when I am suffering, I hate being 'looked after', I just prefer to be left alone.
That is very painful when it is infected too. They have made a mistake if they sent you off without antibiotics, but they do work quickly, so... fingers crossed xx
Doctor Lovely.........that's me way down the queue then..... :-(

You sure you don't want looking after?... ;-)

You are never 'way down the queue' as you very well know!

If we can discuss what we mean by the term 'looking after ...' then we may be able to come to an … arrangement.

Put it this way, if you want to bring me tea in bed, and mop my fevered brow, then I'm not your guy, but as I say, the term means different things to different people ...
An arrangement which doesn't include tea in bed and mopping fevered brows is just fine with me....... ;-)
