Really need our driveway cleaned so have arranged for a couple of Companies to come over and give us a quote.

Does anyone have a rough idea we might expect to pay? Just so we know if the quotes are reasable or not.

It measures about 30ft x 40ft ( in old money!) And we are down South.

That's roughly 9 x 12 metres, so roughly 108 square metres. This firm charges £4 per square metre, so that would be £432 :

This firm charges from £2.50 per square metre, depending upon the surface to be cleaned and whether you require any additional services. So their prices would start from £270 :

This firm though charges a guide price of only £1 per square metre for your size of driveway, so they'd only want around £108 :

Erm, exactly how long is a piece of string?

;-)
Why not buy a pressure washer and do it yourself?
Further to waterboatman’s answer hire a pressure washer for a day. Probably less than £50.
I've just cleaned a large concreted area in our back garden .I pulled all the weeds out then swept it and bought a patio cleaner from aldis £3 .99 you mix it I-4 .it's cleaned up the area nicely .if you google patio cleaning there are several ways mentioned one using cheap bleach .
Agreed with buying a pressure washer and doing it yourself! I suffer from chronic debilitating back pain and this is the one chore I can actually do myself (and really enjoy it). The washer is useful for so many other jobs too!
As already mentioned, you could use a bleach (assuming there are no plants where the solution will run off).

I've just bought another 25 litre drum of Dairy Hypochlorite (yesterday) and paid £15.96.
I used to use a pressure washer to clean my patio, but I started using Dairy Hypochlorite a while ago, as it's not as back breaking and there's no risk of ripping any pointing out, etc.
Simply dilute it; apply using a watering can; agitate it in with a brush; leave it approx 30 minutes then swill off.

I'll never use the pressure washer again for cleaning the patio :)
