Hi, my old DVD player had an optical digital audio port, which connected to a similar port on the TV (via optical cable). The new DVD player does not have such a port, but instead a coaxial port. Does a coaxial to HDMI cable from coaxial port on DVD to HDMI port on TV do the same job ? Thank you.

The HDMI port transmits and receives both audio and video, so you don't need a separate audio connection.
