I bought a packet of mushrooms but won't need them until next week so I need to freeze them. What shall I do - do I blanch or what.

Does the pack not have any guidence?

You can freeze mushrooms
I would cook...fry in butter...then freeze. They will be sodden otherwise.
Apparently some mushrooms are best cooked before they are frozen, others are best frozen whilst raw.
Most mushrooms are mainly water so become an unappetizing mush. They'd have to be very dry and fresh for freezing to be anywhere successful. So don't wash them. They'd only be good for cooking. Personally I'd do as I said in my first post.

I'll be putting them into a lasagne so don't know re the butter
Saute in olive oil then. But butter is fine.

ok - thanks
Have them fried and piled high on toast tonight, buy some more next week :-)
Or make some soup now and freeze that. Buy more mushrooms for when you need them next week. By the way, how do you know that you're going to "need" mushrooms next week?
Pasta knows what she's talking about, she really does.

they're cooked but they shrink into nothing and I have been nibbling on them tonight.

I need mushrooms cos I'm going to be making a yummy lasagne and last time I made it I did find the fresh mushrooms, fresh peppers and onions made it so much nicer than the frozen stuff.
So just buy some more next week!
