This was one of several shows that were not to be watched in my house as I was growing up - the other was Till Death Us Do Part - so I've never seen any episodes all the way through, only clips.
I do know that they came to hate each other, with Harry Corbett angry that what he hoped would be a career as a serious actor had been ruined.
