Blowing a gale up here, but bright and dry at least. Looks like being soft going, for the first couple of days at least, for the big meeting next week so need to keep an eye out for soft going performers. Not a bad meeting at Sandown, but small stakes and keep my powder dry. One interesting point. The 2.25 @ Sandown today has 11 of the runners also entered in the County Hurdle next Friday @ Cheltenham. If a horse wins both races it is paid an extra £100k bonus. Worth keeping an eye on, particularly if the winner today is one with an entry. I have chosen one of them in my punt today. Have a look at the Rugby Later...…...fancy the big winger Cokanasiga to score today. He looks like a new Jonah Lomu.

Before Midnight @10/1 1.50 Sandown
Call Me Lord @11/2 2.25 Sandown
Commodore @5/1 3.35 Sandown
Silva Eclipse @6/1 4.30 Ayr

£1.00 E/W Acca. 4 X 30p Trebles. 6 X 30p Doubles. £5.00 Stake.

Morning, Togo, and good luck with your selections. As you say, some decent races on view and. as it's free to enter, i've had a go at the ITV 7 (numbers in order; 3-2-1-1-6-9-1) and done a £1 e.w. acca on the 7 - £160 for places £238K for wins. That would be nice ahead of the festival :-) :-) :-).

1.50 San; Russian Hawk @ 6/1*
2.05 Wol; Pactolous @ 12/1*
2.25 San; Dream Du Grand Val @ 7/1*
3.35 San; Ami Debois @ 5/1

Win singles, 20p L15, £1 e.w. acca. 4 placed (* denotes shorter price for extra place) = approx £46, 4 winners = approx £4,460.

Willy Hill are paying 7 places in the 1.50 San so i might have another look at the race for a possible big price to place.

Was interested in Skandiburg as an e.w. prospect in that 1.50 but WH only go 22s when some of the others are doing 33/1.Yeah, i know that i should expect less of a price for 7 places but 22/1 isn't value, imho. What just may prove to be value, though, is the boosted 7/1 offered by WH for Spurs, WBA and Leeds all to win. So that's where my fiver's gone :-)
Someone's head should/will roll at Sandown!!
Mine ran no sort of a race - perhaps pace not strong enough for it. Skandiburg did finish 7th.
If the winner does go for next week's County, Togo, it's one less for me to consider as only 3 winners of this race have actually gone on to win the big 'un ('93, '98 and '07). Call Me Lord ran a cracker with that weight on it's back.

I know Ken, and it is the same weight carried in the County. The winner doesn't look capable of humping 11-12 as it will be required to do if it runs. Better do a little double cover now, then sort out a scorecast bet in the Rugby.

If there is a finer sight than a big white chaser I have never seen it. As my darling Granddad used to say "a grey will stay". Sorted a Rugby bet out 4 X scorecasts. That being first try scorer and points difference win.

May 41 to 45 @ 45/1
May 46 t0 50 @ 60/1
Cokanasiga 41 to 46 @50/1
Cokanasiga 46 to 50 @65/1

Afraid i'm from the 'no such thing as a white horse' camp, Togo. My old gramps used to lecture me quite often when i said i fancied the white one :-) Like yours, mine believed a grey will stay all day. I just seem to back the ones that seem to have forgotten what colour they are.

Had a look at your selections for the Rugby and have had a couple of quid on your May and 41-45. I see he scored the first try in both of England's last 2 home games.
