I have a Samsung S4 mini. This morning I had a little green android man on the screen telling me the os was updating. Within the space of five minutes the battery, which had been 100%, completely drained. It was also red hot. I took the battery out as the phone was stuck on the 'samsung' page and I was worried it was about to explode. It wiped everything - all my apps, photos, even my phone numbers which were saved to the sim! I have no idea what happened but needless to say I am going to buy a new phone. So, any ideas for a good smartphone up to £200 please?

Sorry to hear about your problems.
Phones are a personal choice, so I can only give an opinion and that is, I have a galaxy s5 neo it is approx. 2yrs old and I'm very happy with it. Well within your price range and wont take you long to get used too.
When a phone is updating it’s advisable not to turn it off or take out the battery because you may lose data

When updating a phone yes it can run the battery right down in a very short space if time this is why it’s recommended to charge phone whilst it updates

Huawei phones seem to be a rave atthe moment and there is a cheaper model.
I have Huawei..well pleased

I've gone for a Honor 10 lite (Huawei). Seems to have good reviews. Don't understand why folk still shell out on over priced iPhones when this one does virtually the same stuff
^^^it's similar to badge-envy. You're meant to feel envious, jealous and inferior because THEY can afford/buy "the best" and you can't!
....I'll just add that I don't have a smartphone of any make.....
well done good choice of phone.

I personally prefer Iphone because of the user interface. Yes it may not be customisable like androids but who, really.. customises their phones? Not me. If i was to customise tech it'd be a PC
I’v been very happy with my OnePlus 3T since I bought it 2 years ago.
