Retro Sainsbury's used to sell Parsons Lavabread in tins, not sure whether they still do. Happy St David's Day to all Welsh , or in my case part Welsh, AB members x

I shop regularly in our local Largish Sainsbury's but have not seen it there.We have a mega store in Merton and a new larger store in Sutton so may try those.Parsons is the brnd I have. We always bought it in Barnstaple Market or Swansea when I was younger depending where we spent our holiday.

I'd love to try laverbread - never had it despite visiting Wales often.

I couldn't describe what it tastes like. Like Marmite you love it or hate it. The texture of it sticks to the roof of your mouth and everthing else in the washing up sink. :-) People are put off just by what it is and what it looks like. My father (from Welsh fishmonger family) said it is best cooked in bacon fat.
