Hey peeps. So basically our 4 year old dog's favorite meal is chocolate. He eats it at least 3 times a day since he was a pup and even knows where the cocolate tin is to bang his pore on when he is feeling hungry. Anyway as i have been vegan 2 years now then i have tried transitioning him to vegan chocolate but he just doesnt eat it. All the other vegan burgers etc he loves but its just the chocolate. He eats everything to be honest but just not this. What other treats can i give him that we can share? For example This Christmas we had tofurkey which he devoured immediately but when I brought out the vegan chocolate cake he turned his nose up and had to give him the usual quality streets. Anyway any advice for treats please as I am struggling to find the ingrediant he doesnt like or just being difficult so he can get the good normal chocolate?

If you really had a dog eating habit, you'd have eaten the dog by now, and no longer have an issue.

I'm sure this has been said before but chocolate is poisonous for dogs. How your pooch is still with us I have no idea. It also sounds as though he may be addicted, I don't know where you go from here.
Ukan,I am sorry if I came over all holier than thou in my answers to you,but someone feeding chocolate to a dog,
I realise that saying some people should not have dogs was my stupid way of getting back at you,
And for that I apologise,I don’t think you are a bad person,just misguided,keep Well.

So what about Vegan Chocolate? Or it has the same kind of stuff in?
It's still a no - just stop giving any chocolate as treats.

Good Boy etc are fine in small doses. yes.
Vegan chocolate is probably worse, more coco in it.

It is the coco that is a danger because it contains Theobromine

Theobromine is the primary alkaloid found in cocoa and chocolate

Humans easily metabolize theobromine, but dogs process it much more slowly, allowing it to build up to toxic levels in their system.
What sort of vegan eats turkey for Christmas?

Perhaps we should rein in the spinal jokes given that the OP has herself had spinal surgery not too long ago.
I was not aware of this, sorry UKANON
Ok Lynne did'nt know. ukanonymous apologies for any offence, non intended.
The world has gone crackers!! Do vegans know what would happen if they were walking through the jungle in India and came across a hungry tiger?
Second mamalynnes suggestion, feed purpose made dog chocolate, but as a treat and not to regularly. You may have to ween your dog of chocolate gradually, but it's really doing your dog any favours.
