Great to see Mary and lofty return in tonight's episode for dr leggs funeral, but I thought it could have been a bit more nostalgic episode with the characters saying how much the square had changed and going over events that happened when they were last there, what head happened to people from those times

I think the two girls that have arrived to run the restaurant are going to be irritating.
Yes, a lot was made of their return but i was disappointed to be honest.

Those news girls are awful.
The new ones are always awful until we get used to them.
It was a good episode with Mary and Lofty back, read somewhere Annie will return and stay?
At the end it had the name Anne Slater in memory of, but when you google it it comes up with all the Slaters in Eastenders, wonder who it was?
I can just about remember Lofty . I don't recall anything at all about Mary and Annie.
What happened to Masood's aunt and uncle who lived in the house with him??

Yes I thought last nights episode should have just beenpure nostalgia only, no modern characters, it never mentioned what Mary did after leaving the square, she never mentioned her one time boyfriend Rod, all in all a disappointing episode, but would be great if the two characters returned permanently
Masoods aunt and uncle seem to have disappeared. Also I thought Max and wife were supposing to be looking after the restaurant. I wish they would get rid of that drug dealing girl.
If you mean the drug dealing girl who is running the racket with Tiff I think she plays a very good part.
Why was Kathy wearing a cowboy hat??
I don't think the square has changed much over the years.
Be interesting to see if it looks any different when they move to the new set.
I don't watch soaps, but I do know from past experience that when a cast member leaves, they become a 'non-person' - they are never referred to again. No-one wonders where they are, how they are, and they are never ever in touch with anyone left behind.

There are a very few exceptions to this rule, but it is a standard for all soaps.

So, when you bring people back, is anyone in the current cast interested in why they have disappeared off the face of the earth for twenty-plus years with never a card, or a call, much less a visit?

How did they work it?
They came back for Dr Legs funeral.
Andy, if you switch it to real life - which soaps are meant to represent - it’s not that odd that people are never mentioned when they’ve left.
I don’t wonder out loud how my ex-neighbours are, and I’m sure they haven’t thought about me.
