Cat has been wormed every three months and de flead. Seems to be going through a phase of wanting food all the time, every time I open the door to let her in she goes straight to her food bowl and starts mewing. I give her between two and a half and three pouches of food a day, sometimes with biscuits. I don't want her to get overweight, she is four. If I don't keep giving in, and ignore her, will this stop? I just ignored her and she has gone out again ... But she will be back soon asking for more food!! Would two sachets a day be enough by the way? She has a mixture of HiLife and Whiskas and weighs 4.5 kilos. Thanks all.

I would say the first thing that comes to mind would be worms. Has she had decent treatment from a vet or an off-the-shelf worming tablet? I don't really trust the shelf worm and flea treatments.
My boy cat is greedy and always looking out for food.

Mines the same. I put it down to boredom...
Get your Vet to test her thyroid. This happened to a lovely female cat of mine some years ago.

I have a friend who is plagued by his cat with this. I did mention thyroid but not sure they tested for it. The poor cat will wake him at night for food, and all hours of the day wanting it. It has been wormed etc...but continues. Not sure myself of what it is apart from over active thyroid!
Smurf mine is coming up to for years old and eats between 3 - 4 100g sachets daily plus there is always a dish of dried complete he can eat as and when he wants. He does prefer his wet food so only eats the dry when wet isn't available. If I were you I would give your cat a bit more, perhaps dried, and if her weight starts to creep up then you will know she's having too much.
Dunnitall, cats with an over active thyroid tend to lose weight.

//Thyroid hormones also help control the body's metabolic rate and cats with hyperthyroidism tend to burn up energy too rapidly and typically suffer weight loss despite having an increased appetite and increased food intake.\\
Thank LB....they do indeed because my daughters cat did and had hyperthyroidism. I must have missed that the op's cat is overweight or not lost weight. Apologies for posting crass observation.
Not crass at all D. My cat had it as well, had part of her thyroid taken away, lived until her 21st year so didn't do so badly.
Awww LB how wonderful she lived to that age. I miss my cats, wont have any now because I cudnt bare to lose anymore. Thanks for telling me.....I totally understand x
