I'm just wondering if it is the mother or the Government who is going to have the most sleepless nights....
Oh joy, another one towards the eight Billion infesting this planet.
Do you include yourself as one of those who is infesting the planet, david?
Did you really understand this line in your c&p Clap.

//A child born outside the United Kingdom will be a British citizen by descent if
either parent is a British citizen otherwise than by descent at the time of the birth.//

If so did you then understand this addendum?

// CHILDREN WHO ARE BORN OUTSIDE THE UNITED KINGDOM TO
BRITISH CITIZENS BY DESCENT
A child born outside the United Kingdom will not be a British citizen if neither
parent is a British citizen otherwise than by descent. A parent who is a British
citizen by descent cannot normally pass that status on. The exception to this is
where the parent was in one of the 3 types of service listed in section 5 at the
time of the birth.//

Now do correct me if I am wrong, am I reading "A parent who is a British citizen by descent cannot normally pass that status on." Without going to the trouble of searching for the 3 types of "service" in section 5, I am pretty sure that they do not include joining murderous terrorist factions dedicated to destroying the potential nationality of any future ill gotten sprog as exceptions to this.
I tried to reply earlier but once again my answer "disappeared" whilst typing. Becoming a regular event at certain times of the week. Note to self, do the draft in the word processor and copy and paste it before the snoops have time to kill it.
Paranoia setting in ?
Like lookin' in my mirror and seein' a police car........
That's the one Doug. Siren sounds like a strangled cat. (^_*)
Yes I understood the line TOGO - apparently you didn't?!?
Haha ^Otherwise you have nothing to add?
Just been in touch with my Spanish daughter-in-law who lives in Madrid. One of her sisters married a Dutchman and they have four children. Under Dutch law because one of the parents is Dutch the children are all automatically given Dutch Passports. So maybe this could complicate Shamina Begum's baby coming back to to the UK. He will have Dutch nationality through his father.
Shamina says her family will support her ,and baby if she is allowed back into UK. For Family read Tax payer.
I can't vouch for the validity of this link but it suggests that she was born in Bangladesh. Hmmm.

Can't see where it says that, Ladybirder. Her parents were Bangladeshi but she was born in Tower Hamlets in 1999 in all the reports I've seen. Her dad moved here much later though in 2007- (maybe she was conceived in Bagladesh then or while he was on holiday here visiting). Her Mum died and she later lived with an Uncle
FF it says in 7th paragraph //It is emerging though that she was actually born in Bangladesh, so whether that muddies the waters about her re-patriation or not remains to be seen.\\. No idea if that is true though.

It also says // It is also important to note that her father, who is calling for her to be returned home safely with his grandson, is a supporter of Isis and the Caliphate. \\
That's the first time I've read that as well (I think).

// but once again my answer "disappeared" //

this is a useful key stroke to 'undo', can be done multiply
it may not be MI5
it may just be as your nimble fingers go clickety clack they outline in blue text which at the next letter disappears as highlight-delete which then goes down the tube when you type ( overtype) the next letter
The leading case is al-Jazza and the leading opinion is by Lord thingey and it really is straightforward

if she gorrit ( bangladeshi nationality ) then they can ( deprive her of Brit nationality ) and
if she CAN gerrit but done sad all to gerrit then they cant

this is enshirined in his lordship saying nationality is a fact ( like she gorrit yeah) and not a possibility ( like she can gerrit yeah den ?)

BUT - ( I cd be a lawyer looking for a fee ) it also depends on what bangladeshi nationality law says -
like it might confer nationality whether or not it is applied for
( diplomatic immunity ( completely different) is like that - you have it - you dont apply for it)

Isnt there a met police high up piling in on the side of the family ? blimey I bet HE gets the top job later hur hur hur
The al-jidda case is here : - - - [2014] AC 253,

and turns on - "might be" or "could be" is not the same as 'is'
that is the default nationality must be a fact and not a possibility

Farhad Islam - that all Bangla children born in England have default Bangla nationality has gone Very Quiet Indeed.

Dutch nationality seems deffo a maybe and not a fact
