Hot Curry

Made chicken curry last night and did know my cousin was coming but she got a good plate of it as I.

The mix was "Extra Hot Curry". No not hot enough for me and I know one can "doctor" it to make it hotter.

Some time I put Tabasco in and that was too too hot. Any ideas of inbetween ingredient.

white pepper, chili powder.
Less tabasco ?
Teaspoonful of chilli powder ?
Depends if you want to make it hotter at the start of the cooking (in which case more chilli powder or finely chopped fresh chillies) ....or at the end (in which case some chilli sauce). You can't add chilli powder at the end, because it needs "cooking in".
Cayenne pepper maybe. Add slowly and taste as you go ?
Also use some sugar or black or golden syrup

thanks all for your answers, yes think chopped chillis which I have a few in the freezer probably would do - next time will try that.

cousin said it was very tasty to her but she was only in from work, tired and hungry, and unexpected it so enjoyed it - but deffo could have been hotter.

As ginge says, don't add powdered spice towards the end - something like this could work however but start small and see how you go.

thanks Mamy - I've seen that before.
I've posted before, get some goat if you can, I always cook two a Korma for Mrs Tony and madras for me. But Lancashire hot pot in slow cooker for tonight, just have to nip and get French stick.
Only gara masala at end for flavour
There is a way to add spices other than garam Masala at the end of cooking. It's called a tarka, and is explained here...

Use some of the same spices you've put in the curry plus your heat source...whole chilli, chilli flakes etc.
Buy a scotch bonnet pepper and add thin slivers of this pepper until the curry has the desired hotness.
