Not sure whether to post this in "TV" or "Tech", but decided to choose the latter. Anyway .... I get the bit about having to sign in to Iplayer now, but had a problem last night. We wanted to watch something on BBC Iplayer last night, but when we got to the "home page" on our TV (not a smart TV, or at least we don't think it is), it said "you now have to sign in to BBC Iplayer, please use this link (www.bbc.com/account/tv) and use a password (which I've noted down). Obviously, there's no keyboard on the TV to do this, so we're stuck and now can't watch Iplayer unless we can sort it out. We tried doing this on one of our other e.devices (my ipad), but of course it didn't work. Can anyone out there help us to get us watching bbc Iplayer again on our TV (non-"smart" we believe). The Iplayer website didn't seem to help very much .... would really appreciate some guidance, many thanks, cheers, Chox.

You need to go to the website on a computer or tablet and sign up/sign in

You then have to put the code from the tv into the website.

It says its easy, but I've had problems doing it on 2 different tvs. Good luck.
The code you've written down will have expired - you'll need a new one which you'll get when you next try.

Thanks for your help, folks - it's all sorted now, it wasn't exactly crystal clear, I thought that the set of digits given on the TV screen was a password, but it wasn't. Anyway, re-set my password for that website and sorted it in a few clicks. Cheers everyone, Chox.
I'm glad that you've got the problem sorted out but any TV that has iPlayer built into it MUST be 'smart'!

'Non-smart' TV sets simply receive signals through the aerials attached to them and BBC iPlayer services aren't transmitted that way. Your iPlayer service MUST be coming through your router (and not via your aerial) and that's only possible with a 'smart' TV.
Surely if you can watch iplayer on your TV it must be a Smart TV.

I had the same message and as you said it's not really clear. I didn't notice the password for ages. I'm nice but dim :-)
Have you got a home button on your remote? On ours if you press the home button it brings up the channels you can watch...Youtube, iplayer, ITVhub etc.
