Has anyone been to a sandals resort? Are they as good as they seem?

Thinking of St Lucia for a honeymoon.

I wouldn't go to Sandals if I were you. It's very 'branded' Good luck with your search
what about one of thoe swim-up villas in the maldives?
I can recommend the LUX resort Maldives. We went there at the end of June. It was lovely.
We went to the Bahamas Sandals in the late 90s. We really enjoyed it and the food and the accommodation were excellent. We loved being able to eat in a different restaurant every night.
Another place that I liked was the Maritim Resort and Spa in Mauritius which we went to a couple of years ago. I really liked the beach and the food in the hotel was amazing. We went in March and the weather was good. It might be worth checking out
Sj, can I just say I am very impressed by your suggestions on this thread .
Thanks anne. I do tend to get about a bit

You haven't read my Butlins Phwelli reccomendations yet.
..or my best YHA recommendations
... or my 'hostels for under 10 euro' recommendations :)
Retro cop. I’d be more than happy to hear your experiences. I’m sure barmaid would be interested
When my wife finished her A levels and before travelling to work and live in Ibeza for 2 years she took a holiday season job at Butlins Pwellhi.
She was a waitress and many a time she witnessed, when going into the kitchen to collect the slop she was to bring to table, chops, sausages potatoes etc falling off plates when dished out by the 'chefs' and replaced on the plates from the dirty greasy floor. No wastage at Butlins. :-)
One of the best holidays I ever had was when I joined the Australian YHA and travelled all over SW Australia. You don't have to spend a whole lot of money to have a good time
Very true sj, but I think it’s ok to push the boat out for a honeymoon ;*)
I remember when we were at the Australian youth hostels, we had to work for our keep. I remember getting up at about 5 o clock in the bloody morning and scrubbing the patio at the crack of sparrows. After that, we were allowed to leave. It was like being in a prison camp. Happy days though and I would do it all again
