maggiebee, //Nothing new in pupils demonstrating, earliest I can remember is in the 70s, but sure it happened before that too. // Firstly, do you mean schoolchildren - or university students? Secondly, demonstrating and striking are two different things entirely.

^Indeed.
But if they waited until they were 18 until they protested, that would be OK. So really what you're saying is "Children, know your place". I couldn't find an absolutely appropriate link, but this will do - substitute "children" where obvious ...

//So really what you're saying is "Children, know your place". //

Who is really saying that?
And what's wrong with children knowing their place ??
> Who is really saying that?

Anybody who says that, for example, a 15 year old shouldn't be allowed to protest because they're a child. [But when they reach 18, that's OK.]

> And what's wrong with children knowing their place ??

Yeah, and women. Watch the video and you will get the point.
This isn't simply a protest - it's a strike. Big difference.
It's not a strike. That's just a marketing word they've used to describe it. A strike is a withdrawal of labour from an employer. This is a protest. Kids go to protests all the time, but they're not usually specifically organised for kids.
I didn't say women, I said children and that video is just a comedy sketch fgs !!
It's a near-perfect metaphor.
Rubbish !
Ellipsis, I'm not getting into this stupid argument with you. Encouraging children to walk out of school is grossly irresponsible.
You've done the equivalent of giving your opinion of my opinion of returning to the gold standard. That video pictures your ideal world. You could be in it and you wouldn't even need to act.

Ellipsis, your posts seem somewhat out of character. You're not usually so rude. Are you quite well?
