As title suggests, who regularly tests, say once per month, their smoke alarms?

I aways change the batteries on the 5th November every year, same with Carbon Monoxide detectors. But I cant honestly say I then check them monthly!
I always plan to, and probably remember about every three months or so.

Just at a look at my manual, and it suggests a weekly test, so a Monday job for me.
Give then a suck with the vacuum cleaner occasionally too.
I cook every night, that seems to do the trick.

Change the batteries every year....? Decent (lithium-ion) batteries will last several years in a smoke alarm.....and my (sealed) CO detectors are designed to last seven years without any change at all.

Lol BM you seem to be on better than your normal form today, but it's rare for me to on AB all day, just normally dip in and out during the day.
Our smoke detectors have 10 year batteries which cannot be replaced.

Ginge providing you test regularly, you can get full life from your batteries and save some money.
Similarly to Barmaid, mine gets tested fairly often by my cooking.

Ours are sealed units Hopkirk, will continue to use them, until they fail to test OK
Test ours twice a year when we change the clocks, but do give them a quick check if grandchildren are sleeping over.
Can't even reach mine!
I'd have a job doing that Hopkirk, with my GTech Air Ram !!
I must admit I don't check it as regularly as I should about six months ago until the other day, the pp3 battery is still active (changed about five years ago) but the actual alarm would stir even the most harden't of zombies to be awake. It's a good job I've mastered cooking toast ;-)
me.
Mine also gets tested regularly via cooking, toast does it every time.

Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Detectors checked 1st of every month without fail, if I forget the girls chase me up to do it.
Checked weekly , hoovered out every 3 months...
Such sensible folk about, mines so aggressive it seems so agitated pressing the test button with a broom handle.
