im trying to .set up a new password for a website
but its asking me to put in a digit
no matter what i put in it does not work

What reason does it give ?
Why not type the password elsewhere, then copy & paste it into the box ?

Have you accidentally left a space at the beginning, sometimes if you do that it won't accept anything no matter what. x

Nowadays many passwords require at least 8 digits, at least 1 upper case, at least 1 numeric and at least 1 symbol.

eg, you could have Yrneh*1938

OR
yrneH(1938)

I think you might have missed out one of the categories.
