Very strong winds and gusts! Rain! Washing line cover gone! Olive tree in a pot over. Around the Bay there are trees down and I expect the seafront to close too, and obviously Dawlish rail line will be closed!

Wrong category! Should be in CB! I blame the weather!
why should Dawlish be closed, it's a west-south-westerly coming in, so Dawlish is on the leeside.
Yes Carole, I’m being blown in to a pub. What’s a girl to do! ;0)
The railway line along Dawlish sea wall has suffered damage from the heaviest storms in the past but is currently open.
However, the Voyager trains used by Cross Country have brake resistors on their roofs which are liable to seizing up if penetrated by seawater. In windy weather, at high tide, these trains will not run through Dawlish and, coming from the North, are usually terminated at Exeter.
I have moved this thread into the category "ChatterBank".

Very wet and windy here on the east coast of Scotland. Haven't seen any damage apart from a few wheelie bins being blown over..........yet!
Dark grey sky, blustery wind & raining quite heavily in East Sussex.
Gusting up to 45 knots in SE Hampshire - IOW Hovercraft suspended.
One dead in Buckfastleigh, tried heading a tree that was falling down. 5.30 this morning....
It’s a tad breezy in N. Wales but nothing that’ll stop me popping to the flicks on the pushiron to see Green Book.
