I have been prescribed Feldene gel for a calcified shoulder. As I’m in pain I’d like to buy some form of painkiller gel to use as well.

Can I do that?

Should I avoid a particular painkiller?

Yep, I should call the doctor really but getting a call back is an absolute nightmare.

You could ring 111 and ask them for advice.
I'd pop into a pharmacy and ask them, I find they're very good.
Feldene is a pain killer...it is known as a non steroidal anti-inflammatory (Nsaid). Commonly used for the condition that you have described. if you are using it 3 times a day and it is not improving you painful shoulder then i would suggest that you need additional help for the pain and might i suggest ibuprofen 400mgm three times a day after food as well as using the Feldene gel.
