Buildings Insurance?

My flat roof over my bathroom is leaking badly and now needs to be re- fibreglassed. Several quotes have said £4.5k. I have buildings insurance shared with the lady upstairs (we both share the freehold and leasehold). Could I make a claim on insurance for this or is it just inevitable wear and tear?

Not being too despondent, but I think if you were to check you insurance cover it will say that the problem has to be the result of one incident, which seems to rule out wear and tear. But there is no harm in calling them for clarification.
Just normal wear and tear , no chance of an insurance claim.
Wear and tear I'm afraid.

Feel for you - just put a new roof on my house !
