If you read the advertisers literature on Epsom salts and Radox etc. they will cure many maladies.
I can accept that a few bubbles and a nice fragrance could well help you relax, but does it actually have any physical advantages?

Any salts dissolved in water make te water more dense and you will tend to float more but the difference is so small that you would never notice but the feel of the water and the smell are nice.
Epsom salts is magnesium sulphate and it's difficult to understand how they can have any effect on your body (other than your skin, perhaps) without actually getting inside it. I suspect any beneficial effect is from the heat of the bathwater....helping pain symptoms - certainly not "curing" anything!
Without a doubt .. epsom salts make your tomato leaves greener when added every other week during the growing season.
Not sure if it will be benificial to put your feet in Epsom Salts ... check behind your ears and see if they are slightly green, if they are, then you will know they are working !
Yes most of my garden is in pots, and Epsom salts help.
I wasn't aware products such as Radox marketed themselves as a cure - the most common words used for bath additives for aches and pains are - ease/soothe/relax.
Mamyalynne .. I think you are reading from the back of a bottle on Newcastle Brown
Not from here I'm not, none in the house - it's possible I have misunderstood the OP Alva :-)
Epsom salts is mainly if not wholly,Magnesium Sulphate, so when you add them to your bath water what difference physiologically or beneficial to your health ?

NONE.

Magnesium cannot be absorbed through the skin and with extreme imagination belief it is possible.......but highly improbable......that you could absorb the magnesium by inhaling it through the steam.

www.epsomsaltcouncil.org/.....danny you would expect that organisation to support any supposed benefits of Epsom salts.

So in answer to your question Ratter........NONE.

Lol, thanks all, just as I expected!
A bit like the way that they used to claim 'Lucozade aids recovery'.

They can't get away with that these days.

Hopkirk 'Lucozade aids recovery' I imagine it does help to a small degree, It certainly bucked me up as a child when I was treated to a big bottle of Lucozade and my siblings weren't allowed to touch it!!
Its all glucose I imagine, it must give a bit of a boost, probably no more that a spoon full of sugar would do I suppose.
Lucozade used to be such a treat when you were ill, as a child. The fact that it didn't smell like 'pop' made you feel that it was a really nice medicine.

I still buy it now on occasions, and that smell and taste takes me straight back to my child hood.
