We do this every Sunday, have done for many years.

Is today’s puzzle more difficult than usual or is it just us freezing up on a very cold day?

Glad to hear that we're not the only ones!
I have the silk merchant, town, the national walk, the landmark and the designer. What I don't have, is the name of the village two miles away from the landmark...

You've done well.
I found this week's puzzle, as with last week's, quite difficult to "get into". The designer/writer born in Walthamstow was fairly easy to name but didn't really help. Finally managed to identify the moneylending silk merchant and the rest fell into place.
Does the village begin with a 'S', Etch?
I reckon so, Tilly. It seems to me that there was a subtle clue to the name of the film in something mentioned earlier in the puzzle.
Thank you, Etch.

Lovely village that, as is the town.
Ah! The diary.

Form now submitted. Thank you very much, Etch.
Managed the answer at last! Took me a while but I enjoyed getting there.
I was fed up reading about the Civil War...:-)
It wasn't difficult for me - I live just down the road, and was having coffee yesterday in the town! Actually, it's really a large village. Still don't like Newsom's puzzles, though
Glad it's not just me who found this really hard!
