I posted last week that I was attending my ex mother in laws funeral today (who died on xmas day)
Wasn't particularly looking forward to it as my ex hasn't spoken to me in 7 years and blanks me whenever we happen to pass in the street.
However the first words in 7 years were passed between us today. Only briefly but sincerely. Even had a quick hug.
Humans are funny creatures eh?

A bit drunk is ok in the circumstances. Sloshed is another matter.

Cant get to sloshed Tills. Im on the rota for driving tomorrow, Nantwich apparently...
It's a lovely drive to Nantwich! Enjoy.
Question Author
Thanks Tills, I will.
Its only voluntary work but I love it.
Just love the feeling of doing something useful with my day ;)
Good. :-)
Humans are hilarious creatures, but only if I'm in the mood to be charitable.
Your ex stepson is an intelligent chap, and will therefore realise and be appreciative of the diversity and richness a rekindled relationship with you will bring.
Test the waters, gently, and see how it goes.
Best wishes.

Cheers Theland,
He messaged me on Facebook last night to say that he'd like to meet up when he's next back in Stoke from Uni. That meant a lot.
And why not?
You have life experiences that he may never have, and sharing these can only enrich him and add to his wisdom.
And hey mate, he loved you and remembers that.
Question Author
Theland, he messaged me on FB long after I posted here. I was quiet touched by what he wrote to me actually. As I said earlier in this post, I had no contact with him after my split from his mother but he said that some of the things that I taught him had helped to shape where he was today. I slept a bit easier last night after hearing that.
We never know what impact our own lives have on others sometimes, good or bad. I just presumed that he forgot all about me.
Pleased it went well, nailit. :o)
Question Author
Thanks naomi.
Must admit I had some sleepless nights prior to the funeral wondering what kind of reception I
Question Author
EH? I was still typing...
Anyway, was wondering what type of reception that I would receive turning up, but needn't have worried.
Good. x
