We are going to Thailand soon - do you know the best way to be able to get internet access on our mobiles there for when we don't have wi-fi? If we buy a local SIM, won't that change the phone number, therefore all Whatsapp messages etc won't get through?? I have ID mobile & my partner has Virgin mobile. Looks like it's very expensive if we turn on data roaming (£5 per MB). Mainly needed for Ubers and Maps - my other question is: can you download a Thailand map to be able to use it offline?? Thanks!

I've been to Thailand many times and bought a phone over there, soley to use whilst there, (they are quite cheap, about £100 - £200), or buy a Thai sim as you alluded too. All hotels and majority of bars and restaurants have free WiFi. Good luck and enjoy your trip.
