.I get at least one message per day inviting me to invest. Not in the junk mail. I just delete on the 'if it sounds too good to be true' rule. Are they genuine?

probably but i'd just stay out of it. It's not an investment it's a gamble.

There is indeed a scam doing the round named Britcoin. I say scam without having seen the emails but the interwebby advises that it is indeed just a skimming operation.
