Hoover Washing Machine Blowing Electrics

Hi, my daughter has a Hoover DYN8144D machine. It was in mid cycle last night when all the sockets went off in the house. She said that the machine showed error 08 and now it will not spin. The machine is about 4 years old. When I looked up error 08, there are a few things it could be but they did not seem to relate to the electrics. Any help on anything we could check ourselves before calling the repair man. Thank you.

I suspect it may be because it was mid-cycle. Can you set it to drain?

Hello tuvok, the machine has drained but will not spin. I have had a look at espares but to be honest I would not know how to check the things they suggest as there are no details of how to find them or what they look like. We can easily check the fuse in the plug and also plug it into a different socket to see if it makes any difference. We cannot do this until tonight when she gets back from work. To be safe, she has unplugged it and turned off the master switch on the wall. Thanks.
