Last weekend I experienced the WORST customer service at a shop in town.
I don't want to mention the name of the shop, because I'm not sure how I'm going to proceed. Last Friday I bought something from this shop. I paid cash for it, I took it home and found out on Saturday that it didn't work. So on Sunday, less than 48 hours later, I took it back to the shop and asked if I could get a refund.
The girl in the shop told me “NO” even though I still had the receipt.
I asked if I could get a replacement instead then. Again this person told me "NO."
Next I asked to talk to a manager, as I really wasn't happy and I explained that I had bought the item, had got it home and it didn't work. The manager just smiled and told me to my face that I was "OUT OF LUCK." ???
No refund.
No FREE replacement.

Now what??

It was only a small value item, but surely that's besides the point??

What was the item? I'm not sure whether there is going to be a punchline or whether it's a serious point
You're entitled to a refund or replacement. Is this a local single shop or a chain? I can't imagine a well-known store would treat a customer like that.
Phone Trading Standards for advice.

...... it was a lottery ticket.
I'm NEVER shopping at that shop again.

Sorry - I didn't want to post this in jokes, as it would have been too obvious ...... I'll grab my coat now :)
Local Trading Standards dept....the shop staff need to be reminded of their obligations under consumer law.
Forget the coat, Giz....just get running...fast!... ;-)
Go and waste somebody's time elsewhere........

One guy came in crying that he had been robbed and all his money was missing. I had to get details from him so that I could verify his story. When I mentioned the word Police he remembered that the guy who robbed him was called William Hill.
