why do people think simply because they work face to face with customers they deserve a tip?

I think in the UK tipping is just not a thing.. Why do bartenders expect tips?

I've seen one online kicking off because they didn't get any yesterday.. If they're kicking off cus they didn't get any then in my opinion, they don't deserve any.

Stay humble, you don't deserve nada. Everyone works, not everyone gets free tips.

My husband is usually a generous tipper, but if a 12.5% service charge has been added to a restaurant bill he won't give any more than that. We were in London at the weekend and had lunch that came to £29.98 inc service. He left £30. The waiter was not happy.
Members of my family work in the service industry , they get tips, I am so happy they do, it bulks up their wage and boosts their days, I myself gave a good few tips over Christmas, to my Bin collectors, postie, hairdresser and gifts to the nurses that look after me on a regular basis - I know they all get paid by their employer but looking after me and going the extra distance (as is the case with my postie and bin collectors) I think they deserve a bit of a tip and acknowledge how good they have been to me, I don't tip taxi drivers or bar staff
