Tumble Dryer Not Working Properly.

My Hotpoint tumble dryer has recently stopped working in that it does not heat up any more. Still tumbles and looks and sounds as if it's working but it's producing no heat. I'm guessing the heating element, or some such has broken, and I'm also guessing this is likely to be expensive to repair. Does anyone have experience of this and would know whether to advise seeking a repair or just buying a new one?

Depending upon the model, it might cost around £50 to £70 for a new heater element

and perhaps another £20 for the thermostat(s) to go with it

(It might be that you only need to replace the thermostat or the heater, rather than both, but many engineers would do the lot together anyway).
Then you've got a very small amount of labour, which might be included in an engineer's call-out charge (of, say, £60) or you can do it yourself fairly easily. See the video here:
