The metoo campaign is an odd thing because by virtue of the way the industry works victims are going to have been close to the perpetrators and will have undoubtedly sung their praises at some point to further themselves, that's pretty much a given, that's how it worked, and still works with some people not yet exposed. Singly no-one could have brought them down but as a group that's now happened so people who have previously sung the praises of Harvey Weinstein etc are free to speak their truth, sometimes even now though not without sanction or danger to themselves. Personally I wouldn't fancy testifying against him, I don't think I would ever feel safe and if those that have do then I think that's naive. For every one singing their praises there are ten who told him to go and stuff himself at the time and who never worked again as a result though.
As for Bruce Springsteen I think he may well be a patriot, my partner does a lot of work and support for ex military in the US, and I've met a few veterans and it's impossible not to be touched by their ( perhaps sometimes slightly misplaced) patriotism. They really do mean it, and some of them have sacrificed a huge amount for it and are really on skid row as a result. I imagine he sees that and admires it and empathises with it. x
