Oh please help - I have a space approx 38 inches square and I need a circle of track for a 00 gauge hornby - now the track I have is too large! Could anyone advise me exactly what track I need to order from eBay - please remember I’m a complete amateur
You would be making my Christmas complete for me and I would be eternally grateful

Yes, the loco (and trucks) with Santa's Express are four wheeled so OK for R605. You need eight of these.

Hubby says to look at Hornby Track plans.
He then said a lot about radius of curves etc
He fears it is just not going to fit, willing to be proved wrong.
Have a look at this thread here where someone is asking about circular measurements x
https://www.hornby.com/uk-en/forum/diameter-of-curved-track/?p=1/
Hornby make curved track in four radii. You are interested in the smallest.
2nd radius - 438 mm = 17.24 inches (to track centre). This will have the edge of the track very close to the edge of your board. (38/2 = 18)
1st radius - 371 mm = 14.60 inch. This will leave a wider margin at the edges for greater safety from falling and room for scenery.
In either case you want the longest section of track to reduce the number of joins, that is eight 45 deg pieces.
2nd radius curve, 45 deg - catalogue number R607
1st radius curve, 45 deg - catalogue number R605
Note these smaller radii are suitable only for short wheel base stock.
Sorry 38/2 = 19, but I think this will give a margin less thagiving a margin less than one inch.

Sorry to appear dense but if I buy R607 x 8 pieces that will suffice?

Can I thank you all so much for the time and patience you have shown me
Yes, eight 45 deg pieces make the complete circle, 360 deg.

One more thing then I’ll go to bed - I have the R1179 so would that be ok with the smaller radius of the R605 and how many pieces would I need of that one ?
Yes, the loco (and trucks) with Santa's Express are four wheeled so OK for R605. You need eight of these.

Oh MM - that's really lovely. I have only just got the Santa Express - I was going to put it around the tree but I have a fairy door and have placed it on the landing outside my door which is where the fairy door is. I am aiming to expand it for next year so I might be looking to buy a little Christmas bridge or any other Christmassy accessories to add to it
